About

Mission Statement:   We believe that quality childbirth education leads to better experiences in birth, which in turn can set the stage for a smooth transition into new family life.  Information, introspection, and connection are all key aspects of this, and Hoosier Mama is committed to offering such quality education in an accessible and affordable way for the families of Michiana.

Meet our team…

I’m Melissa and I am a mom of 3 and a Certified Nurse Midwife in South Bend. I have been helping people have their babies for 15 years and love being there as new families are born. I am passionate about empowering you to make the decisions that are best for you surrounding your birth, as well as preparing you for challenges after birth.

I’m Miranda and I am a Childbirth/Labor and Delivery Nurse and home birth assistant with past experience as a doula. I find passion and joy in supporting families through pregnancy, Labor, birth, and postpartum. I believe that holding people through their most vulnerable and powerful moments is an extraordinary honor. I am so excited to be supporting and educating outside the birthing space to help families feel more prepared for when we get there!

Marchelle Pettit is a certified doula, childbirth educator, mentor, and champion for
reproductive justice and birth equity.
Guided by her love for birth, community, and the families she serves, Marchelle recognizes her responsibility to center every expectant parent and family with compassion, dignity, and respectful care. Marchelle challenges systemic inequities that contribute to the high rates of maternal and infant mortality and morbidity, and she is deeply committed to helping cultivate a community where every family feels safe, strengthened, and empowered.
Marchelle is a mother of two bio and two bonus (adult) children.

Eva (CD, CPD) is a certified birth and postpartum doula and childbirth educator proudly serving families throughout Michiana.

With a background in family support through nannying and a local maternity program, she brings a deep understanding of the perinatal journey to her work. She is especially passionate about birth advocacy and education, believing that informed choices lead to empowered, positive birth experiences.

When she is not supporting clients, you can find Eva gardening, lifting weights, writing, reading, or exploring the world with her son!
